Mounting point requirements:
Make sure there is a sufficiently strong GSM signal at
the mounting point.
The GSM signal strength can be determined at the gateway
via the control menu, using the
GSM Monitor
function (see
Section “Control menu” on page 32).
Ensure an adequate radio link is available to a
WTx16 / WTx56.. of the AMR network to be read out.
If, during the network scan, the display of the radio signal
strength indicates the signal level is too low, change the
position within the building and repeat the procedure.
The display of the radio signal strength can also be deter
-
mined at the gateway offline (without link to the
Siemens
gateway configuration portal [S GCP]
) via the Control
menu using the
Scan
function (see Section “Control menu”
The minimum distance between the WTT563.. and a AMR
network node should be 3 metres.
Parts and controls
Putting into service
Operation of the gateway requires a customer account on the S GCP. The gateway can be installed in two different ways. The
installation variant depends on the settings in the S GCP.
Manual installation (auto scan)
This installation variant is suitable for situations in which no
information is available about the number and position of the
network devices and the radio conditions in the building.
The advantage of this type of installation is that the installer
can check the availability of the networks within the radio
range of the gateway on site at the gateway's display.
Automatic installation (auto install)
Automatic installation requires that the requirements for auto
-
matic installation of the gateway were defined in the S GCP.
To do this you must enter the ID of the AMR networks, which
are to be managed by the gateway and the conditions which
must be fulfilled for auto installation in the S GCP.
To start up the gateway, the gateway must be in "NEW" mode.
Check the mode by pressing the red button (2) briefly. The buzzer generates a short tone and the
display (1) shows the current mode (here "NEW").
To exit the display, briefly press the red button (2) again.
Manual installation (auto scan)
Important: Installation and set-up of the AMR network to be read out must have been completed.
Installation of the device requires a link to be set up with the S GCP.
•
To do this, press the red button (2) and keep it pressed for approx. 2 sec (long press) until the LED (3) lights up green. The
remaining steps are run through automatically.
•
The scanning process can be interrupted at any time with a long press of the red button (2) and confirming the "ABORT
"
message with a repeated long press of the red button (2). In this case the gateway is reset to sleep mode.
Displays during auto scan
The device starts setting up the link to the S GCP.
The buzzer generates a short tone, the LED flashes green and the display (1) shows the "SYNC
"
message with flashing antenna symbol
.
The symbol for the mobile phone standard available in the location ( for GPRS, for EDGE) and the
GSM signal strength
are shown on the display (1).
If the GSM signal is too weak, correct your position.
Starting the scanning process.
The buzzer generates a short tone, the LED flashes green and the display (1) shows the "SCAN
"
message with flashing Rx symbol.
The gateway now searches for network nodes within its radio range. All detected and captured networks are shown consec
-
utively in the display (1) with the relevant information, each for 3 seconds. The scanning process lasts 4 minutes. During the
entire scanning process the LED flashes green and the information on the captured networks is displayed alternately (display
loop).
