No Video After System Power Up
If the system powers up and appears to be booting normally but no video is present, try the
following basic solutions:
•
Confirm your monitor is plugged in and switched on.
•
Check all video cables and ensure they are properly connected.
•
If using an optional PCIe video card, check the back of the card for LED activity or a fault
indicator. Try opening the system, reseating the PCI card, and rebooting.
If you cannot get a video signal after trying the basic solutions, contact your support provider.
Perceived Boot Freezes (GPU Configurations)
When GPUs have been configured in your system, the boot process may appear to freeze after the
POST code 91 or A9 stage. Most likely, the boot process does, in fact, proceed but the video output
switches from the default onboard video port to that of the offboard GPUs once the GPUs have
been initialized. This behavior is the expected behavior when offboard video has been designated
as the the primary video port. The setting for
VGA Priority
in BIOS determines this primacy.
More generally, the keyboard, mouse, and video capabilities are affected.
In the event where offboard video has been designated as the the primary video port and there is
no addin GPU configured, you will lose video on reboots. In this case, you must configure an
addin GPU or clear CMOS to reclaim video on reboots.
