Can I use Silk’n Glide™ on tanned skin, or after sunbathing or using a
tanning bed?
Tanned skin, especially following sun exposure, contains large amounts of the
pigment melanin. This applies to all skin types and colors, including those that
do not appear to tan quickly. The more melanin present in the skin, the greater
the risk of adverse effects such as burns, blisters, and skin color changes
(hyper or hypopigmentation).
The following applies for Silk’n Glide™: if you use energy levels
2
to
5
, do not
expose your skin to sunlight for 4 weeks prior to starting your hair removal, as
well as for 2 weeks after the last session. If you use the lowest energy level
1
,
you do not need to allow for these times.
As a man, what should I be aware of when using the Silk’n Glide™?
The device is suitable for use by both women and men equally. Due to
biological differences, however, men may require more hair removal sessions,
for example for chest hair, than women need on other areas of the body.
When will I see results?
Results are not immediately visible and it may at first seem as though nothing
has happened. Hair may sometimes appear to be growing back after a hair
removal session, but generally many of these hairs will then fall out after two
weeks.
In addition, hairs grow in three different phases and only hairs in an active
growth phase are affected by the light pulses. This is why multiple sessions
over a longer period are required to achieve the desired result.
