5.3.2 Maintaining the splitting knife
Performing splitting knife maintenance before each
season of use is always recommended. Smooth out
any unevenness and bends in the knife with an
angle grinder, for example, at a length of approx. 30
mm (20 °). Use a file, for example, to finish the
sharp tip to a 90 ° angle at a length of approx. 2
mm. Note that the horizontal knives are only
sharpened on one side.
5.3.3 Adjusting the in-feed conveyor belt
Before using the conveyor, you should always
check the belt tension and ensure that the belt is
aligned to run straight in the middle of the
conveyor. The direction and tension of the belt
can be adjusted with the nuts in the in-feed
conveyor roller. Adjusting the belt direction
prevents it from fraying.
