5. Unpacking and setting up
5.1 Setting up the appliance
Note:
Because the supplied appliance and
its heating coils are coated with a thin film of
grease, you may notice a
small
amount of
smoke and odour the first time it is used. This
is not harmful and will stop after a short
while. Ensure adequate ventilation during
this time.
1. Take the appliance out of its packaging.
2. Remove the transport packaging.
3. Check that the appliance has not
sustained any damage.
4. From underneath, slide the rear foot

completely onto the last heating
element

5. From the front, slide the front foot

onto
the corresponding receptacle and push
it in until it latches into place.
6. Check that the appliance stands
steadily.
Warning!
– Ensure that it is located suffi-
ciently far from walls, fixtures
and other appliances. The dis-
tance must be at least 0.5 m to
exclude the risk of fire.
– The appliance may be operated
only when upright.
7. Select a location in line with the safety
instructions (see “4. Safety information”
on page 3).
8. Check that the control knob

is set to
“
OFF
”.
9. Insert the mains plug into a power
supply socket that meets the technical
data requirements (see “3. Technical
data” on page 3).
6. Operation
6.1 Switching the appliance on and off
1. Switch the appliance on by turning the
control knob

until you hear a click and
see the indicator lamp

light up.
The thermostat is now set to the current
room temperature.
The heater will switch on and off
alternately in order to maintain the
current temperature setting. Whenever it
is heating up the indicator lamp

will
come on.
2. If you want a higher room temperature,
turn the control knob

further towards
“
MAX
”.
3. If you want a lower temperature, turn the
control knob
4
in the opposite direction
somewhat.
4. To switch the appliance off, turn the
control knob

to “
OFF
”.
