6. Unpacking and setting up
NOTE:
when the device is used the first few times, some
odour may be generated by the device due to the heating
of the motor. This is harmless. Please ensure adequate ven-
tilation.
1.
Remove all packing materials.

Check to ensure that all parts are present and undam-
aged.
3.
Clean the device prior to first use!
(see “Clean-
ing and servicing the device” on page 36).

7. Basic operation
7.1 Preparing
food

Do not use the device to chop particularly hard food
such as bones or nutmegs.
• Wash and clean vegetables, fruit and herbs.
• Remove stems (e.g. from herbs), hard peels (e.g. from
nuts) and parts which you do not wish to process (e.g.
apple seeds).
• Use fresh herbs in a dry condition.
• Remove sinews, bones and gristle from the meat.
• Remove the cheese rind.
• Process cheese and meat only if they are well cooled.
• Soft cheese (e.g. mozzarella) can also be briefly fro-
zen.

, cut the food into small pieces of

so small that it fits into the central food chute. Food
with a long shape (such as carrots, cucumbers, cour-
gettes) can be processed whole. These are placed up-
right into the food chute. They should fill the width of
the food chute as much as possible so that they are un-
able to fall over.
