Adjusting the burner
7.3.1
Air shutter position
The air shutter can be adjusted by turning the screw (1) with the
Allen key (2) provided::
–
clockwise
; to increase the shutter opening (O
2
increases, CO
2
decreases)
–
anti-clockwise
; to decrease the shutter opening (O
2
decreas-
es, CO
2
increases).

7.3.2
Adjusting the diesel pressure
The diesel pressure, and hence the burner power, can be adjust-
ed through the regulator (3), after mounting a pressure gauge
on the outlet (4).
Run the burner for a few minutes then turn the adjuster screw
(3):
–
clockwise
; to increase the pressure
–
anti-clockwise
; to decrease the pressure.
Check the modified value on the pressure gauge.

After making the adjustment, stop the burner, disconnect the
pressure gauge and close the outlet (4).
7.3.3
Checking the pump’s negative pressure
The vacuum gauge for checking the pump’s negative pressure
must be connected to point (5). The maximum allowed negative
pressure is 0,4 bar.
With a higher negative pressure, diesel turns into gas, causing
cavitation of the pump and damaging it as a result.
If this maximum value cannot be respected, check the diesel
supply system.

7.3.4
Checking the combustion parameters
To conduct the combustion checks it is necessary to connect a
fume analyser and a fume thermometer to the withdrawal sock-
et (6), as illustrated in the figure.

After completing the initial start-up of the thermal unit, leave
the burner running for a few minutes to stabilise the flame.
Then measure:
– CO
2
(%)
– CO (ppm)
– NOx (ppm)
– Bacharach index
– the fume temperature
Check that the measured values are very close or equal to the
values of the technical data table. If not, correct the regulations
made.

WARNINGS
– In certain countries, the regulations in force require
measuring the combustion performance.
– Do NOT lower the pump pressure to below 9.0 bar.
