General
Almanac
– a satellite’s almanac data, is data which determines an approxi-
mate lane for satellites in orbit. The almanac data is used by the GPS receiver
to find and lock onto the satellite signal. CAXX has a built-in basic almanac.
AVN
– Approximate Velocity Necessary – to arrive at a specific waypoint at a
specific time.
B
earing – is the direction of where to go e.g. towards a specific waypoint.
C
ourse – Course Over Ground, magnetic or true. The direction of which the
vessel is moving.
Configuration
– the configuration functions of the CAXX allow you to adapt
the system more specifically to your needs. You may set Units of measure
(feet, fathoms, meters, etc.), Menu language, Scroll speed, etc.
dGPS
– differential data is received from satellites via built-in DGPS module
or an external DGPS Receiver.
ETA
- Estimated Time of Arrival - at a specific waypoint if keeping a steady speed.
Great circle
– the shortest distance between two points on the globe.
Heading
– the direction of which the vessel is pointing (from ext.compass).
Measurement units
– the user may select the displayed units to be one of the
following:

fathoms, 1 fathom is 1.83 meters

nautical mile, 1 nm is 1852 meters
kn
knots, nautical mile per hour
km
kilometer, 1 km is 1000 meters

statute mile, 1 mile is 1609 meters
mh
mile per hour
MENU
– the selection of main menus will be shown in the upper part of the
screen. Leaf through the menus by means of the cursor key and the [ENT]
key, or use the numerical keys to activate one of the menus.
