Servicing the EQ-55

If it is necessary to remove the transceiver PCB, begin by disconnecting the
connectors around the periphery of the PCB. Use care that the connectors and
PCB are not damaged in the process of disconnecting. Remove the 9 nuts that are
holding down this PCB board. The PCB may be removed from the EQ 55 drawer.
7.4.4
Replacing the Transceiver PCB Assembly.
Replacing the transceiver PCB is the reverse of the removal process. It helps to
arrange the connectors before placing the PCB, so that the connectors may be
accessed easily after the PCB is in place. Use care to ensure that the connectors
are mated correctly with their respective receptacles. Replace the 9 nuts.
7.4.5
Removing the CPU Printed Circuit Board Assembly
The CPU printed circuit board assembly is mounted under the transceiver board
in the EQ 55 drawer.
If it is necessary to remove the CPU PCB, begin by disconnecting the connectors
around the periphery of the PCB. Use care that the connectors and PCB are not
damaged in the process of disconnecting. Once the connectors are free, proceed by
removing the 9 standoffs that hold the CPU board in place. The CPU PCB may
now be removed from the EQ 55 drawer.
NOTE: The transceiver board must be remove first.
7.5
CHANGING EQ 55 SOFTWARE
The EPROM which needs to be changed is a 40 pin integrated circuit, labeled U10,
and is on the CPU circuit board.
7.5.1
Identifying the EPROM chip.
The EPROM chip will have a label stuck to it indicating the revision level of the
program inside it. Also, the circuit board is labeled "U10" next to the corner of the
chip.
7.5.2
Orientation of the EPROM
Note the small notch in one end of the plastic chip. This notch will be on the end of
