Radar
Interface
There are two ways for the ECDIS900 to interface with radar:
•
Connection to the ARPA radar via serial line
•
Connection directly to the radar transceiver with the MK radar kit that delivers the radar
target table and the radar video
All acquired targets are displayed on the electronic chart and the ECDIS900 manages the
CPA/TCPA alarms.
Targets
The targets are displayed on the chart with special symbols. On request the name of the
target and the past track can be displayed, the track can be saved on the hard disk and the
target deleted in case of manual target. The target Properties display all information about
the actual target and the target list contains the list of tracked targets.
The prediction tool allows calculating the future position of the targets.
To remove the target icons from the display, press the
F8
short key.
Radar antenna position
To set the exact position of the Radar antenna, refer to the
Shape
parameters from the
Ships properties
dialog. See
Ú
Note:
The targets’ positions are calculated from this reference point.
MK Radar Kit
With the MK PC radar kit the PC can be transformed to an advanced radar system. Combined
this with ECDIS900, the radar picture can be shown on the chart and by means of the built-in
radar tracker you will now have the most common ARPA functions available.
The system to be installed on one or two machines which may operate on a local network
onboard the ship. MARIS radar tracking system has a unique capacity of tracking
simultaneously up to 300 targets, making it capable of searching for and showing data much
faster than any other system.
Target display
Target symbols are small circles with a speed vector, the vector length is being dependent
on the speed of the target.
In case of CPA/TCPA alarms, the target’s icon flashes.
