THERMOSTAT CONTROL OPERATING INSTRUCTION (TC-100 & TC-400)
WARNING! This automatic control is more simply stated as an automatic switch. The control merely
switches the heater on and off. It does NOT adjust the heater gas pressure to changing ambient
temperatures or changing airflows. This is YOUR responsibility!
The TC-100 and TC-400 contains an automatic thermostat with a temperature range from 70 degrees F
(21 C) to 200 degrees F (93 C). The control is designed to close a set of electrical contacts when the
temperature falls below the “set” point, thus causing the heater to operate. If your set point is lower than
the ambient temperature at start up, the heater will not fire. After determining your temperature setting,
and adjusting thermostat to reflect that, you are ready to begin.
1.
Start fan and heater according to separate instruction in respective manuals. There will be a 45
second delay as the fan purges the heater of any fuel vapors.
2.
Red light located on heater control panel comes on.
3.
Unlock locking nut on heater regulator. Adjust gas pressure setting just high enough to satisfy the
thermostat.
The best way to set the gas pressure to satisfy the thermostat is to turn the thermostat all the way up.
Then adjust the gas pressure so that the thermometer in the TC-100 & TC-400 stabilizes at a
temperature 10 to 20 degrees above desired temperature. Note: It should not take longer than a few
minutes for the temperature to stabilize. Once stabilized, turn the thermostat to your desired setting. .
Watch several cycles to insure heater is operating within the setting you have selected. The heater
should cycle to maintain your setting. If you feel that heater is cycling too often, check to be certain
air is moving through the control and out the bottom. Without airflow through the control, reaction
time and temperature range will be excessive.
CAUTION: Higher than necessary gas pressure setting will only result in shorter “on” cycles and
will not dry your grain any faster.
CAUTION: When ambient temperature drops, it may be necessary to increase the heater gas pressure
in order to satisfy the thermostat.
It may be necessary to adjust the gas pressure up as the ambient temperature drops to maintain a
preselected plenum temperature rise or plenum temperature.

Watch several cycles to insure the heater is operating within the setting you have selected
5.
Whenever shutting down your fan & heater system, always close the fuel source at the tank, draining
the lines, allow the heaters safety system to detect no flame and lock itself out.
6.
AFTER STEP 5 HAS BEEN COMPLETED- turn the heater panel power switch to the off position.
Then shut down the fan.
