tool; direct the cord to the rear away from the tool
●
When you put away the tool, switch off the motor and
ensure that all moving parts have come to a complete
standstill
●
Use completely unrolled and safe extension cords with a
capacity of 16 Amps (U.K. 13 Amps)
●
In case of electrical or mechanical malfunction,
immediately switch off the tool and disconnect the plug
●
SKIL can assure flawless functioning of the tool only
when original accessories are used

a rating of 230V or 240V can also be connected to a
220V supply)
●
This tool is not suitable for wet sanding
●
Do not work materials containing asbestos
(asbestos
is considered carcinogenic)
●
When sanding metal, sparks are generated; do not use
dust canister and keep other persons and combustible
material from work area
●
Do not touch the moving sanding disc
●
Do not continue to use worn, torn or heavily clogged
sanding discs
●
Wear protective gloves, safety glasses, close-fitting
clothes and hair protection (for long hair)
●

USE
●
Backing pads
- never run the tool without backing pad A
! replace damaged backing pads immediately
(loosen/fasten 4 pad screws B)
! unplug tool before removing/mounting backing
pads
●
Backing pad brake
- reduces no-load speed thus avoiding unwanted
sanding marks
- a steadily increasing no-load speed indicates that
brake ring C is worn out and should be replaced
●
Mounting sanding discs
- simply press sanding disc D onto backing pad with
perforation in sanding disc corresponding with
perforation in backing pad
- if necessary, clean backing pad first
! the dust suction requires the use of perforated
sanding discs
●
Dust suction
For optimal dust pick-up performance
- empty dust canister E frequently (lift lid of canister)
- remove dust out of micro-filter F (do not wash micro-
filter with soap and water)
! do not use dust canister when sanding metal
●
On/off
- before switching on the tool, you should place it with
the entire sanding surface on the workpiece
- when switching on, do not apply too much pressure
on the tool
- switch on/off the tool by pushing switch G in "I"/"O"
position
! be aware of the sudden impact when the tool is
switched on
! before switching off the tool, you should lift it
from the workpiece
●
Holding and guiding the tool
- guide the tool parallel to the working surface and
move it in circles or in a cross pattern
- do not tilt the tool in order to avoid deep unwanted
sanding marks
- keep the ventilation slots H uncovered
●
Sanding
- the amount of material removed is determined by the
speed of the sanding disc and the grit size used
- the speed of the sanding disc diminishes relative to
the pressure applied to the tool
- for faster removal, do not increase pressure on the
tool, but use a coarser grit size
●
Polishing
When used with the appropriate accessories, such as a
foam polishing head and a lambswool polishing bonnet,
this tool can be applied for polishing
●
Speed control
For optimal sanding results on different materials
- with wheel J you can adjust the sanding speed
stepless from minimum to maximum
- always adjust speed to grit size used
- for determining the optimal speed and grit, table
3
can be used as reference
! always test out first on a piece of scrap material
