Sanding curved edges
(Fig. 17a - 18)
Always sand inside curves on idler drum
(Fig. 17a).
1. Hold the workpiece firmly, keeping fingers
away from the sanding belt.
2. Press the curve firmly against the idler drum,
and move the workpiece evenly across
the sanding belt. Use extra caution when
sanding very thin pieces.
WARNING
Never attempt to sand the
ends of a workpiece on
the idler drum (Fig. 17b).
Applying the end of
the workpiece to the idler drum could cause
the work piece to fly up and result in an injury.
Always sand outside curves on the left side of
the sanding disc (Fig. 18).
1. Hold the workpiece firmly, keeping fingers
away from the sanding disc.
2. Press the curve firmly against the sanding
disc, and move the workpiece evenly on the
left side of the sanding disc.
WARNING
The disc rotates both up
from the table and down
towards the table. Applying the workpiece
to the right side of the disc could cause the
workpiece to fly up (kickback) and result in
injury.
WARNING
To avoid trapping the
workpiece or fingers
between the table and sanding surface, the
table edge should be a maximum of 1/16"
(1.6 mm) from sanding surface.
