RADAR POSITIONING

 

BASEBALL, SOFTBALL (STANDARD POSITION):

It is important to align the Sport Radar as closely to the path of the ball as possible. The 
base of the Sport Radar is angled 16 degrees from the ground, which when used behind 
a pitchback or return net, aligns well with the path of a baseball pitched to the strike zone 
(see Figure 2 below, illustration features the SKLZ Quickster Pitch Return).

PROBLEM

REASON

SOLUTION

Screen is blank or not giving readings.

The unit has timed out because of lack of activity, or the batteries 
need to be replaced.

The ball may not be meeting the minimum speed requirement.

Follow “RADAR POSITIONING” and “USER POSITIONING” instructions.

Refer to the “Button Functions” section on how to reset the minimum speed. 
The lowest minimum that can be set is 14 MPH or 23 km/h.

Maintain minimum distance of 20 feet from unit.

Use a leather baseball or softball.

Install non-rechargeable, alkaline batteries.

MODIFICATIONS (PART 15.21):

EXPOSURE TO RADIO FREQUENCY RADIATION

 

          The radiated output power of this 

device is far below the FCC radio frequency exposure limits. 
Nevertheless, the device shall be used in such a manner that 
the potential for human contact during normal operation is 
minimized. This product and any attached external antenna, if 
supported, shall be placed in such a manner to minimize the 
potential for human contact during normal operation. In order 
to avoid the possibility of exceeding the FCC radio frequency 
exposure limits, human proximity to the antenna shall not be 
less than 20 cm (8 inches) during normal operation.

FOR DESIRED PERFORMANCE

»  Aim for the strike zone. Balls pitched outside the strike zone may not be detected or may 

register slower speeds.

» Throw from beyond 20 feet from the unit.
» Throw at a speed of greater than 20 MPH.

LACROSSE, TENNIS:

Some sports, like lacrosse or tennis, aim higher than a baseball strike zone. In this case you 
can place the Sport Radar on a stool, bucket or other pedestal to raise the “strike zone” to 
your desired height (see Figure 4 below, illustration features the SKLZ Quickster Backstop).
