D
Enter the software channel for the wind speed channel (see hardware Configuration
Certificate, e.g. '00')
Enter the new Full Scale Value as calculated above - your entry must be 5 digits plus a
decimal place, with no leading zeros, e.g. '945.57'
Enter the offset count as '0000'
Enter the offset sign as '+'
The figures you have just entered will be displayed for you to confirm. If OK, press 'Y' and
you will return to the Main Menu
Press ESCAPE to return the D to logging mode. The 'ANY KEY TO' message should
appear every 10 seconds again.
2. RAINGAUGE
This example illustrates use with Environmental Measurements ARG 100 tipping bucket raingauge,
which has a pulse of nominally 0.2 mm per tip. (See actual calibration figure per tip written inside
each raingauge).
Therefore Full Scale Value = 0.2 mm x 19,000 = 3800.0 mm
To enter this figure follow these steps:
'Wake up' the DataHog as usual to reveal the Main Menu.
Type '9' to set Ax+B calibration factors.
Enter the Software Channel number for the raingauge channel.
Enter the Full Scale Value as calculated above and 0000 for the Zero Offset value with a +
sign.
The entries you have made will be displayed for your to confirm if correct.
Type Y to confirm and return to the Main Menu.
Don't forget to press ESCAPE when finished, to return the DataHog
NOTE - it is not advisable to use low sampling times to average rainfall readings, as low rainfall
periods may average out below the resolution of the datalogger and produce a zero reading.
It is more usual to make the SAMPLE and LOGGING TIMES identical so that a total amount of
rainfall is recorded, rather than an average figure.
e.g. to set the D up to record total rainfall in mm per hour, set the full scale value to
3800.0 as above (adjusted for the individual raingauge calibration) and set SAMPLE TIME to 1
hour and also LOGGING TIME to 1 hour.
