Special Imprinting Applications
Now that you have mastered the basics of foil stamping, we shall explore the techniques that pertain
to specific applications.
How to Imprint on Ribbons
Imprinted ribbons are used to decorate party favors, gift baskets and trophies to get a personalized
message across. Your SLE Hot Printer is the most advanced of its type available for printing ribbons.
It features a built-in ribbon guide that is very precise and easy to set up. The extra wide Type Holder
allows you to print both sides of a favor ribbon in just one pass.
1. Set the temperature to about 220 degree.
2. Slide the 1-line Adapter Sleeve into the Heater Platen.
3. Set the 1-Line Type Holder according to the instructions above on typesetting. The most
common type sizes used for ribbon printing are 12, 14 or 18 points. Use P-series or A-series
foil for these Type sizes.
4. Insert the Type Holder into the Adapter Sleeve from the left.
5. Insert the Stop Pin into the side of the Ram Bar. The stop pin cuts down the amount of work
you do by reducing the distance your arm travels.
6. Adjust the foil pull.
7.Secure the Ribbon Spindle onto the wooden base on the right side of the machine
8. Install a spool of ribbon onto the Ribbon Spindle.
9. Release the thumbscrews on the built-in ribbon guide.
10. Expand the Ribbon Guide by sliding the yellow plastic plate forward.
11. Thread the ribbon through the Ribbon Guide between the two yellow plastic plates and
underneath the two metal bars.
12.Center the ribbon by adjusting the position of the two yellow plates to make sure that the
ribbon passes directly underneath the type. Make sure that the type does not hit any part of
the Ribbon Guide during operation. Tighten the thumbscrews to secure the position of the
Ribbon Guide.
