When installing or servicing the system or accessories,
strictly observe the safety precautions in the
Safety Notes
Summary
. Ignoring these instructions can void the system
warranty and cause personal injury or property damage.
2 ESD
Electrostatic discharge and incorrect installation or
removal of the card can damage circuit or shorten its life.
Use a properly grounded ESD wrist strap or work in an
ESD-safe environment.
Connect to the ESD connector at the front or the rear of
the system.
3 Site preparation
For more information on the environmental and power requirements,
refer to the
RTM-ATCA-748x Installation and Use
manual.
Operating temperatures refer to the temperature of the air circulating
around the blade and not to the actual component temperature.
4 Install the RTM
1. Locate the slot at the shelf's rear side, where the RTM has to
be installed. This slot must be same as that of the front blade.
NOTE:
If the front blade is already installed, open the lower
handle of the front blade to power down its payload. The blue
LED on the front blade starts to blink. Wait until the blue LED
on the front blade is lit. When the blue LED is lit, the payload is
powered down.
2. Slide the latches of the RTM blade in the direction indicated by
the arrows printed on both the handles. This makes the handles
to release automatically.
3. Insert the RTM blade into the shelf by placing the top and bottom
edges in the card guides of the slot.
4. Slide the RTM blade inwards by applying equal and steady
pressure until you feel resistance.
5. Continue to gently push the RTM until the RTM connectors
engage.
6. Insert the RTM blade fully and then push the handles inwards.
The latches automatically lock the handles.
Note
: If the shelf is powered, as soon as the RTM is connected
to the front blade, the blue LED lights up and remains lit until the
lower handle of the RTM and the lower handle of the front blade
are closed.
7. Close the lower handle of the front blade so that the payloads of
the RTM and the front blade are powered up. The blue LEDs on
both the front blade and the RTM start blinking.
8. Fasten the faceplate screws on the RTM.
9. Wait until the blue LEDs on the front blade and the RTM move to
unlit state. A blue LED that is not lit indicates that the payload of
the front blade and the RTM has been powered up and is active.
10. Plug the interface cable into the face plate connectors, if
applicable.
