Below is a generic representation of a SmartRG gateway, however your specific model may have greater or fewer ports and controls across the
back of the unit. Refer to the Quick Start Guide enclosed with your gateway for specifics regarding installation of your particular model.
The ports depicted in this example are described as follows:
DSL
The grey, RJ12 port labeled DSL is specifically intended for connection to an internet provider via a DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) service. The
center pair carries the first DSL line. For models like the SR550n equipped with two DLS ports and bonded DSL capability, the outer pair carries the
second line.
WAN
A stand-alone RJ45 port labeled WAN enables your SmartRG gateway to be hard-wired to another network device with a RJ45/Ethernet output
such as a cable, fiber, or DSL modem.
