Version: Stage 5 / Open Cab
The drainage procedure is as follows:
1.
Place a suitable container under the water separator to collect the
water and contaminants.
2.
Close the fuel valve (3) (figure 4).
3.
Open the drain valve (4) (figure 4) in the bottom part of the
separator. Drain any water therein. If no water comes out, loosen
the breather screw (5) (figure 4) in the top part of the separator,
turning it in a counter-clockwise direction for 2-3 turns.
4.
If the water still doesn’t come out, open the fuel valve (3) (figure 4).
5.
After draining the water separator, manually tighten the drain valve.
6.
Tighten the breather valve if it was loosened.
7.
Open the fuel valve.
8.
Prime the fuel system:
After maintenance on the fuel system, for example emptying/replacement of the water separator
or fuel filter or other component of the fuel system, the system needs to be primed by turning the
ignition key to ON (1 click) for a period of 10-15 seconds. This allows the electric pump to prime
the system. Do not use the starter motor to turn the engine for the purpose of priming the system.
This may cause the starter motor to overheat and damage the coils, the pinion and/or the
gearwheel.
9.
Check for any fuel leaks
vii.
REPLACEMENT OF PRE-FILTER FILTER ELEMENT
The water separator (or pre-filter) filters impurities such as water, dust or dirt, which frequently penetrate
the engine. Replace the fuel filter element every 500 operating hours.
Follow the procedure below:
1.
Place a suitable container under the water separator to collect
the water and contaminants.
2.
Close the fuel valve (3) (figure 5).
3.
Open the drain valve (4) (figure 5) in the bottom part of the
separator. Drain any water therein.
4.
Turn the sump (1) (figure 5) to the left and remove it. If
present, disconnect the wire of the sump sensor before
removing the sump.
5.
Remove the floating ring (8) (figure 5) in the sump. Pour the
contaminants into the container and dispose of them
appropriately.
6.
Clean the inside of the sump.
