AN OVER TEMPERATURE PROTECTION SYSTEM.

WATER HEATER LOCATION
The water heater should be installed close to both the most frequently used outlet and the solar storage
tank, with its position chosen with safety and service in mind. Make sure people (particularly children)
will not touch the flue terminal. The flue terminal and air inlet must be clear of obstructions and
shrubbery.
Clearance must be allowed for servicing of the water
heater. The water heater must be accessible without the
use of a ladder or scaffold. Make sure the entire front
panel can be removed for service. Remember you may
have to remove the entire water heater later for servicing.
You must be able to read the information on the rating
plate.
The installation must comply with these installation
instructions and with the requirements of AS/NZS 3500.4,
AS 5601 and all local codes and regulatory authority
requirements. In New Zealand the installation must
conform with NZS 5261 Code of Practice for Installation of
Gas Burning Appliances and the New Zealand Building
Code.
The water heater must not be installed in an area with a
corrosive atmosphere where chemicals are stored or
where aerosol propellants are released. Remember the
air may be safe to breathe, but when it goes through a
flame, chemical changes take place which may attack the
water heater.
For a single water heater installation, follow the
diagrams on pages
21
and
22. For a multiple water
heater installation, follow the instructions on
pages
26 to 29.
This water heater must be installed vertically upright with the water, gas and power connections on the
underside, pointing toward the ground. The back of the water heater can be either against a wall or
supported by a frame. The water heater must be secured to the wall or frame using suitable mounting
screws, two each at the top and bottom of the unit
(refer to page
20
for mounting hole positions)
.
Alternatively the water heater can be recessed into a wall (refer to
“Recess Installation”
on page 14). A
secondary flue is not required. The water heater must not be installed indoors or in a confined space.
