ABOUT YOUR WATER HEATER
WATER HEATER APPLICATION
This water heater is designed for use in a single family domestic dwelling for the purpose of heating potable
water. Its use in an application other than this may shorten its life.
New, used, remanufactured or refurbished parts or products may be used to repair or replace parts or products
which are part of this water heater system. Goods presented for repair may be replaced by refurbished goods
of the same type rather than being repaired.
MODEL TYPE
The Solahart
®
PowerStore Grid Interactive water heater is suitable for either indoor or outdoor installation. The
water heater has two heating units (refer to
on page 11). Water is stored in a vitreous
enamel lined steel cylinder and heated by the electric immersion heating units. The control system, sensors
and thermostats control the temperature of the water inside the cylinder and the source of the power supply.
An E5X series model is a 50°C limited water heater designed with a temperature limiting valve installed at the
outlet of the cylinder to limit the water temperature delivered from the water heater. This is so the water
temperature supplied to fixtures used primarily for personal hygiene does not exceed 50°C.
An E6X series water heater delivers water at up to 70°C from the hot water outlet during normal operation,
and on occasion up to 80°C if there is an excess of utility grid supplied electricity available.
Automatic safety controls are fitted to the water heater to provide safe and efficient operation.
An E6X series water heater has caps covering brass plugs on one
side of the tank. The plugs and caps block off alternative connection
points and are not to be tampered with or removed.
HOW HOT SHOULD THE WATER BE?
The water heater
’s control system allows the water to be heated to a
minimum temperature of 60°C and a temperature of 70°C during
normal operation. On occasion the water may heat to 80°C. These
temperature settings cannot be adjusted.
An E6X series water heater can deliver water at these temperatures.
An E5X series 50°C limited water heater is temperature limited at the
outlet. This is so the water temperature supplied from fixtures used
primarily for personal hygiene does not exceed 50°C.
To meet the requirements of the National Plumbing Standard the
temperature of the stored water must not be below 60°C.
HOTTER WATER INCREASES THE RISK OF SCALD INJURY
This water heater can deliver water at temperatures which can cause
scalding.
Check the water temperature before use, such as when entering a
shower or filling a bath or basin, to ensure it is suitable for the
application and will not cause scald injury.
E6X series
–
Hot Water Outlet
An E6X series water heater can deliver hot water at a temperature up to 80°C, sufficiently hot to cause severe
scalding. Water at this temperature may have been plumbed to fixtures where water hotter than 50°C is
allowed, such as the kitchen and laundry.
We recommend and it may also be required by regulations that an approved temperature limiting device be
fitted into the hot water pipe work and serving a bathroom and ensuite when this water heater is installed. This
will keep the water temperature below 50°C at the bathroom and ensuite. The risk of scald injury will be reduced
and still allow hotter water to the kitchen and laundry.
