Chapter 2: Configuring Your SkyWay Series Unit(s)

This field lets a user choose if the unit will be a client or a server or have this
utility disabled on that unit.
Timeout.
1-14400 seconds
. The interval of time in seconds a periodic timeout
value.
IP Address.
000.000.000.000
. Enter the IP address of the server where a request
for a time stamp is sent.
SNTP Configuration
Use 3.5/3.4 SNTP utility screen for setting values for fields.
1.
Check and document the time and date of the unit on screen 1.1.4 System
Clock Configuration.
2.
Select a mode based on three criteria described below from different values.
Default mode is Multicast client.
3.
Set a timeout value if mode is Anycast client, Unicast client, Multicast server
or any combination of Multicast server.
4.
Set IP address of a SNTP server if mode is set to Unicast client.
5.
Type “.w” to write changes.
6.
Check to verify the time and date of the client unit on screen 1.1.4 System
Clock Configuration has synchronized.
Changing SNTP Modes
Anycast Mode
1.
On the Server:
•
Change mode to either Anycast server or any combination of Anycast
server.
•
Type “.w” to write changes.
2.
On the Client:
•
Change the mode to Anycast client.
•
Set a timeout value to receive a packet.
•
Type “.w” to write changes.
Multicast Mode
1.
On the Server:
•
Change mode to either Multicast server or any combination of Multicast
server.
•
Set a timeout value to send a periodic multicast SNTP packet after initial
write.
•
Type “.w” to write changes.
2.
On the Client:
