SLS-ENVR Series NVR V2.1 User Manual
SECTION 4: SYSTEM / REMOTE ACCESS
SECTION 4
System / Remote Access
This section includes some general guidelines for accessing your NVR remotely, such as from a computer on the same LAN, or from
the internet. Consider the following:
•
Remote access to the SLS-ENVR based camera system requires configuration of router port forwarding of SLS-ENVR (two
ports) and also for all connected devices (two ports per camera)
•
Remote access should be configured after you configure the cameras and other devices in the system
•
Automatic router control considerations:
—
SLS-ENVR tries to setup port forwarding automatically via UPnP Port Forwarding feature (preferred option)
—
Must be enabled in router
—
Sometimes remote is not allowed due to security risks, or because the router is not capable of enabling this kind of
remote access setup.
In general, there are two types of remote access to your system - each has its advantages:
•
Access to cameras and other devices through the NVR, and
•
Access to the NVR and other devices directly (recommended for Solstice system).
Remote access to devices through the NVR
Direct remote access to devices
Advantages
:
•
Live video to client is re-streamed through NVR:
high performance demand = high cost
•
Simplified client design, number of clients limited by NVR
•
Less channels per NVR
•
Easier router setup
Advantages
:
•
Live view directly from device:
less powerful NVR hardware needed = lower cost
•
Number of clients limited by camera
•
UPnP Port Forwarding enabled router recommended
•
Direct access to camera configuration settings
