5-13
5. 4. 8. Discrimination
The Discrimination settings are used to select signal processing modes of sonar
images.
10 settings from “Discrim.1” to “Discrim.10” are available. The standard setting is
“Discrim.5”. While “Discrim.1” is the weakest signal processing, “Discrim.10” is the
strongest signal processing. These settings should be used depending on a fish type or
your preference.
5. 4. 9. TX Power
These settings are used to change transmission power in the rage from 0 to 10. The
transmission stops when the TX Power
is “0”, and the power is highest when the TX
Power
is “10.” If the value of the TX power is increased, the intensity of the TX Power is
also increased to enable long-range searching.
5. 4. 10. TX Pulse
These settings are used to change the transmission pulse width in the range from 1 to
10. The width is minimum when TX Pulse
is “1”, and the width is maximum when TX
Pulse
is “10.” A short pulse width should be used to detect a fish school in the shallows
or when you want to confirm the density of a fish school.
5. 4. 11. Synchronization
This function is used to synchronize sonar operations. When th
e setting is “Internal”,
the sonar operation synchronizes with itself, and the setting is “External”, the sonar
operation synchronizes with external signals. When there is a lot of noise from the echo
sounder, etc, external signals should be input from the echo sounder to synchronize with
external signals.
5. 4. 12. Dwell
The transmission cycle can be adjusted. The set value should be increased when there is
interference. This function is enabled when “5.4.11. Synchronization” is set to “Internal.”
5. 4. 13. Noise Reduction
The Noise Reduction settings are used to eliminate acoustic noise and random noise
from other ships as well as the sea clutter generated during bad sea conditions. 10
settings from “NR1” to “NR10” are available. The standard setting is “NR5.” While “NR1”
is the weakest signal processing, “NR10” is the strongest signal processing. Normally the
standard setting should be used because the Noise Reduction function can deteriorate
the image smoothing.
