External Synchronization
of AES/EBU Output
Using the highly accurate sampling converter, the
AES/EBU output of the CD recorder can be
synchronized with any 32 kHz to 96 kHz external clock
other than the internal 44.1 kHz sampling frequency.
You can select the AES/EBU input signal or word
clock input signal as a synchronizing signal.
Select the AES/EBU output mode from “AES/EBU
Out” in the Setup menu.
(1) Internal: Internal Synchronous Mode
Output at 44.1 kHz sampling frequency from
internal clock.
(2) Ext AES/EBU: External Synchronization-AES/
EBU Input Synchronous Mode
The signal synchronizing with the sampling
frequency of AES/EBU input is output. If the
AES/EBU signal is not input, the mode is
temporarily switched to the internal synchronous
mode in (1).
Information about audio data and channel status of
AES/EBU input is not related to external
synchronous operation.
(3) Ext WORD: External Synchronization-WORD
SYNC Input Synchronous Mode
Output with a signal for sampling frequency
synchronizing with WORD SYNC input. If the
synchronizing WORD SYNC signal is not input,
the mode is temporarily switched to the internal
synchronous mode in (1).
(4) Thru Moni: AES/EBU Input Through Monitor
Mode
The AES/EBU input signal is electrically buffered
and output. The signals input to the CD recorder
can be distributed to other devices through series
connections. After this setting, the AES/EBU input
signal is always output without adjustment
regardless of the operation mode (stop, playback,
and recording) of a disc.
Cautions
• Digital COAXIAL and OPTICAL output is not
synchronized externally.
• A disc is always played at the same speed regardless
of the frequency of an external synchronizing signal.
Example of External Synchronous Operation
for AES/EBU Output
• Perform external synchronization during playback.
• While recording AES/EBU input, the signal
synchronizing with the sampling frequency of the
input can be monitored from the output terminal.
• The recording of input signals is independent of the
external synchronous operation of AES/EBU output,
so external synchronization can be performed when
any input is recorded. For example, while the AES/
EBU input signal is recorded, output synchronizing
with WORD SYNC can be performed.
