A vertical band appears when
recording candlelight or electric light
in the dark (DCR-SR32E/SR33E/
SR42E/SR52E/SR62E/SR72E/
SR82E).
• This occurs when the contrast between the
subject and the background is too high.
This is not a malfunction.
Horizontal stripes appear on the
image (DCR-SR190E/SR200E/
SR290E/SR300E).
• This occurs when recording images under
a fluorescent lamp, sodium lamp, or
mercury lamp. This is not a malfunction.
A vertical white line may appear on
an image taken in bright light (DCR-
SR32E/SR33E/SR42E/SR52E/SR62E/
SR72E/SR82E).
• This phenomenon is called the smear
effect. This is not a malfunction.
Undesirable flicker occurs (DCR-
SR32E/SR33E/SR42E/SR52E/SR62E/
SR72E/SR82E).
• This occurs when recording images under
a fluorescent lamp, sodium lamp, or
mercury lamp. This is not a malfunction.
Black bands appear when you
record a TV screen or computer
screen (except for DCR-SR290E/
SR300E).
• Set [STEADYSHOT] to [OFF] (p. 55).
[S. NIGHTSHOT PLS] cannot be
operated (DCR-SR32E/SR33E/
SR42E/SR52E/SR62E/SR72E/
SR82E).
• Set the NIGHTSHOT PLUS switch to ON.
[SUPER NIGHTSHOT] cannot be
operated (DCR-SR190E/SR200E/
SR290E/SR300E).
• Set the NIGHTSHOT switch to ON.
[COLOR SLOW SHTR] does not
operate correctly.
• [COLOR SLOW SHTR] may not operate
correctly in total darkness. Use NightShot
plus or [S. NIGHTSHOT PLS] (DCR-
SR32E/SR33E/SR42E/SR52E/SR62E/
SR72E/SR82E), NightShot or [SUPER
NIGHTSHOT] (DCR-SR190E/SR200E/
SR290E/SR300E).
You cannot adjust [LCD BL LEVEL].
• You cannot adjust [LCD BL LEVEL]
when:
– The LCD panel is closed on your
camcorder with the LCD screen facing
out.
– The power is supplied from the AC
Adaptor.
Still images stored on a “Memory
Stick Duo” cannot be played back.
• Still images cannot be played back if you
have modified files or folders, or have
edited the data on a computer. (The file
name flashes in that case.) This is not a
malfunction (p. 112).
• Still images recorded by other devices may
not be played back, or appeared in the
actual size. This is not a malfunction
(p. 112).

VISUAL INDEX screen.
• Loading of the data may have failed. It
may be indicated correctly when you turn
off the power and then turn it on again, or
repeat removing and inserting the
“Memory Stick Duo” a couple of times.
