Troubleshooting
The picture is black and white.

In the setup display, set “EURO AV OUT” in
”CUSTOM SETUP” to the appropriate item
conforms to your TV (page 62).

Depending on the TV, the picture on the screen
becomes black and white when you play a disc
recorded in NTSC color system.
Sound
There is no sound.
/
Check that the player is connected securely.
/
The audio connecting cord is damaged. Replace it
with a new one.
/
Make sure you connect the player to the audio
input connectors on the receiver (amplifier) (page
11).
/
Make sure you turn on the TV and the receiver
(amplifier).
/
Make sure you select the appropriate position on
the receiver (amplifier) so that you can listen to the
sound from the player.

The player is in pause mode or in Slow-motion

When you play the DTS sound tracks, no sound
will come out from the LINE OUTPUT (AUDIO)
and 5.1CH OUTPUT connectors (page 68).
Sound noise is heard.

Clean the disc.

When you play the DTS sound tracks on a CD,
sound noise will come out from the LINE
OUTPUT (AUDIO) and 5.1CH OUTPUT
connectors (page 68).
Sound distortion occurs.

In the setup display, set “AUDIO ATT” in “AUDIO
SETUP” to “ON” (page 66).
The sound loses stereo effect when you play a
VIDEO CD or a CD.

The surround effect is difficult to hear when you
are playing a Dolby Digital sound track.

be the entire 5.1 channel but monaural or stereo
even if the sound track is recorded in Dolby Digital

the center speaker only.

Set “VIRTUAL 3D SURROUND“ to “OFF,” “VES
A” or “VES B” in the Control Menu display (page
50).
The sound comes from the front speaker only.

You set “VIRTUAL 3D SURROUND“ to “VES A”
or “VES B” in the Control Menu display when you
have connected the rear speakers (page 50).
Select the other item.
Operation
The remote does not function.

Remove any obstacles between the remote and the
player.

Use the remote near the player.

Replace all the batteries in the remote with new
ones if they are weak.
The disc does not play.

There is no disc inside (“Insert disc.” appears on

Moisture has condensed inside the player. Remove
the disc and leave the player turned on for about
