Adjusting the sound
characteristics — SOUND
You can adjust the sound characteristics
according to your preference.

During playback/reception, press
(SOUND)
repeatedly until the desired
setting item appears on the main unit.

After 3 seconds, the setting is complete and
the display returns to normal play/reception

Enjoying sophisticated sound
functions — X-DSP
X-DSP, Sony’s new sound engine, creates an
ideal in-car sound field with digital signal
processing. X-DSP contains the following
features: CSO (Center Speaker Organizer),
Intelligent Time Alignment, and EQ7.
Creating a virtual center speaker
— CSO
To fully enjoy surround sound, it is adequate to
have 5 speakers (front left/right, rear left/right,
center) and 1 subwoofer. CSO (Center Speaker
Organizer) allows you to create a virtual center
speaker even if it is not connected.
To activate CSO, press
(SOUND)
repeatedly
until “CSO” appears, then set to “ON.”

Note
CSO is deactivated while the karaoke mode (page 33)
or EQ7 (page 39) is activated, or “SUPER AUDIO CD
MODE”/“SA-CD MOD” is set to “HQ” (page 46, 50).
BAL
(Balance): Adjusts the sound balance
between the left and right speakers.
FAD
(Fader): Adjusts the relative level between
the front and rear speakers.
C SP
(Center Speaker)*

speaker volume.
SW
(Subwoofer)*

: Adjusts the subwoofer
volume.
EQ7
: Selects an equalizer curve from 7 music
types.
CSO
(Center Speaker Organizer)*
