Customizing Sound Fields
By adjusting the sur

the sound fields to suit your particular listening situation.
Once you customize a sound field, the changes ar
e stor ed

for about two weeks). Y

sound field any time by making new adjustments to the
parameters.
See the table on page 33 for the parameters available in
each sound field.

Effect level (EFFECT)
Initial setting : (depends on sound field mode)
This parameter lets you adjust the “pr
esence” of the
current sur round ef fect.
Wall type
Initial setting : W
ALL MID
When sound is r eflected of f soft material, such as a
cur tain, the high fr
equency elements ar
e r educed. A har d
wall is highly r eflective and does not significantly af
fect
the fr equency r esponse of the r
eflected sound. This
parameter lets you contr
ol the level of the high
frequencies to alter the sonic character of your listening
envir onment by simulating a softer (S) or har
der (H) wall.
• The wall type can be adjusted fr
om W ALL S. 1 ~ W ALL
S. 8 (soft) to W
ALL H. 1 ~ W ALL H. 8 (har d) in 17 steps.
• The midpoint W ALL MID designates a neutral wall
(made of wood).
Reverberation
Initial setting : REVB. MID
Befor e sound r eaches our ears, it is r
eflected
(reverberated) many times between the left and right
walls, ceiling, and floor
. In a lar ge r oom, sound takes mor
e
time to bounce fr
om one sur face to another than in a
smaller r oom. This parameter lets you contr
ol the spacing
of the early r
eflections to simulate a sonically lar
ger (L) or
smaller (S) r oom.
• The r everberation can be adjusted fr
om REVB. S.
1 ~ REVB. S. 8 (short) to REVB. L. 1 ~ REVB. L. 8 (long)
in 17 steps.
• The midpoint REVB. MID designates a standar
d room
with no adjustment.
