Connecting a computer display
You can connect a computer display (monitor) either directly to your computer or via the (optional) port replicator.
To connect a computer display, proceed as follows:

If you want to connect a VGA monitor, plug the display cable (1) (not
supplied) on the notebook or on the port replicator.

If you want to connect a TFT/DVI monitor, plug the display cable (not
supplied) into the DVI-D connector on the port replicator.

If necessary, plug one end of the display’s power
cord (3) into the display, and the other end into an AC outlet.

DVI-D
stands for
Digital Visual Interface - Digital
. It is a kind of DVI connector that only supports
digital video signals, so no analogue video signals. It has 24 pins.
A
DVI-I
connector (
Digital Visual Interface - Integrated
) supports digital video and analogue video signals. It has 29 pins.
You can not connect a DVI-I to VGA cable to a DVI-D connector!
