8.2 AXLE AND WHEEL LUBRICATION
NOTICE
> GREASE YOUR TRACK SYSTEM AT INSTALLATION. WHEN GREASING AXLES, MAKE SURE
THE GREASE SPILLS OUT FROM BOTH ENDS OF AXLE.
> WIPE OFF ANY LUBRICANT THAT MAY GET ON THE TRACK.
NOTE
Soucy Track recommends lubricating the track system at the end of a work shift. First, hot lubricant is more efficient at
getting to all the components requiring lubrication; second, this gets rid of moisture build-up.
Proper lubrication methodology will ensure smooth operation of the system and prevent premature wear or failure of
bearings and axles, damage to wheels, and excessive lateral free play of conical bearings.

Use a lithium-complex or lithium grease with the following properties:
•
EP (Extreme Pressure) additive, Grade NLGI 1;
•
Base oil viscosity of 220 cSt@40 ºC;
•
Operating temperature range from -30 ºC to +160 ºC;
•
Above 10 ºC, a NLGI 2 grade may be used.
•
Soucy uses Shell Gadus S3 V220C NLGI 1 grease (see Figure 4 for lubrication point’s location).
•
Shell Albida EP1 grease has been replaced by Shell Gadus S3 V220C NLGI 1. You can use the former until you
run out of stock.
•
If necessary, use vegetable grease meeting NSF H1 requirements (Food machinery grease).
•
See the REGULAR MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE table to find the specific lubrication intervals.
•
At season’s end, lift the tractor for better grease penetration and lubrication.
•
Pivot axle lubrication will prevent seizing, failure, and premature bushing wear.
•
Lubrication points must be done on both side (some models only)
