3.8 Measuring Frequency
Connection manner
When testing the frequency of a voltage signal, connect test leads to the sources the same as AC
voltage measurement connections; when testing the frequency of a current signal, select the current
measurement connections according to the value of current.
Entering to the frequency test
Press
to enter into the frequency test. The measurement is on the basis of the AC voltage range. If
you want to view the frequency of the current signal, you can observe the AC current signal in the
secondary display in AC current measurement.
3.9 Measuring capacitance
The capacitance measurement ranges from 1nF to 10000µF with the maximum resolution ratio up to 1pF.
ST1952 adopts DC constant current charge test. The capacitance is calculated by measuring the voltage
change (
△
V) in an extremely short time (
△
t). The measurement period includes two sections: charging
stage and discharging stage.
Basic operation
Connect the test leads to the sources the same as voltage measurement. Press
key to enter into
the capacitance measurement function. In order to acquire more accurate results, please make open Rel
measurement to the probe before connecting the capacitor to be measured with the probe.
3.10 Math Functions
3.10.1 dB Calculation
Expressing DC and AC voltage in dB makes it possible to compress a large range of measurements into
a much smaller scope. The relationship between dB and voltage is defined by the following equation:
Where:
IN
V
is the DC or AC input signal.
REF
V
is the specified voltage reference level.
The instrument will read 0dB when the reference voltage level is applied to the input.
Application method:
Method 1:
1. Press
Shift
+
for dB math operation and the present dB value is displayed in the primary
display and the current measurement result is displayed in the secondary display.
2. Press
key and the initial value of V
Ref
is displayed: +1.00000 V.
3. Press
key to enter into the edit interface of V
Ref
