Move the spindle ON/OFF lever to the
OFF
(center) position, as shown in
Figure 22
.

Connect the lathe to power source, then turn
the main power switch (
Figure 23
) to the
ON
position.

Note:
This headstock has a pressurized oil
system that is equipped with an oil pressure
safety switch. If oil stops flowing or does not
flow to start with, the lathe will not operate
until the oil is properly flowing. Refer to
Troubleshooting
to correct.
Never bypass the oil pressure safety switch!
If you do, you will void the warranty, and
headstock damage may occur.

Rotate the stop button (
Figure 17
on

) clockwise until it pops out. The pump
will turn
ON
. Observe the oil pump tube
sight glass (
Figure 24
). Verify that you see
oil flowing out of the tube and against the
sight glass.

Make sure that all bystanders are out of the
way, tools are cleared away, and the chuck
key is removed from the chuck.
15.
Move the spindle ON/OFF lever (
Figure
25
) down and the chuck will rotate counter-
clockwise (down and toward you, as you face
the front of the lathe).

16.
Observe the lathe and listen for any
abnormal noises or vibration. The lathe
should run smoothly with little or no
vibration or rubbing noises.
17.
Push the stop button. The lathe should stop.
