ASSEMBLY/USE
The
apparatus
provides
the
desired
performance
when
the
following
instructions
are
carried
out
correctly
and
in
sequence.
The
operations
should
be
repeated
each
time
that
the
apparatus
is
used.
See
Figure
1
for
the
description
of
the
components.
4.1.
Battery
recharge
-
Remove
the
protection
cap
on
the
battery
jack.
-
Connect
the
battery
charger.
-
Charge
the
battery
completely
(the
LED
on
the
battery
charger
changes
from
red
to
green
to
indicate
that
the
charge
is
complete).
-
The
battery
may
be
charged
even
when
it
is
partially
discharged.
WARNING:
The
protection
cap
on
the
battery
jack
should
always
be
inserted
when
the
apparatus
is
not
recharging.
4.2.
Preparation
for
TURBINE
170
and
battery
-
Put
the
device
around
your
waist
using
its
belt,
adjusting
it
using
the
dedicated
clasps.
-
Tighten
the
filters
(4)
in
the
dedicated
position
(8)
after
having
removed
any
possible
caps
or
seals
on
the
filters
and
on
the
device,
and
after
having
ensured
that
the
gaskets
(10)
are
present
and
in
good
working
condition.
ATTENTION
:
the
TURBINE
170
should
always
be
used
with
a
pair
of
filters
of
the
same
model,
which
should
both
be
substituted
once
they
wear
out.
-
Insert
the
pipe
(3)
on
the
apparatus,
screwing
it
into
the
suitable
connection
(9)
after
having
removed
any
possible
protection
caps.
-
Connect
the
pipe
(3)
to
the
mask
(threaded
connection
which
should
be
screwed
on)
or
to
the
helmet/hood
(bayonet
connection).
-
Switch
on
the
turbo
ventilator
while
holding
down
the
ON
button
which
can
be
found
on
the
upper
part
until
the
LEDs
switch
on,
while
referring
to
the
next
paragraph
4.3
“Selection
of
the
air
flow
rate”.
4.3.
Selection
of
the
air
flow
rate
The
TURBINE
170
has
been
designed
so
that
it
can
function
at
a
flow
rate
of
130
or
170
l/min
per
second
for
connected
filters:
130
l/min
for
combined
filters
(202
A2B2E2P3
R
and
202
A2B2P3
R),
170
l/min
for
the
anti
‐
dust
filters
(100
P3
R).
The
flow
rate
should
be
chosen
when
one
is
about
to
switch
on
the
device.
The
device
can
be
switched
on
by
pressing
the
ON
button
for
5
seconds.
Every
time
that
the
TURBINE
is
switched
on,
it
will
give
out
the
same
flow
as
it
was
emitting
during
the
last
use;
the
value
is
indicated
by
the
corresponding
LED
which
will
light
up
accordingly.
To
change
between
different
flow
values
one
needs
to
press
on
the
ON
switch
while
the
device
is
in
start
‐
up
phase
until
the
LED
relating
to
the
other
flow
value
lights
up.
IMPORTANT:
do
not
hold
down
the
ON
button
for
more
than
10
seconds
as
this
may
change
the
system’s
calibration,
which
would
require
a
maintenance
service
by
the
manufacturer.
4.4.
Verification
of
the
air
flow
rate
To
verify
that
the
TURBINE
170
emits
the
desired
flow,
switch
on
the
device,
place
the
flow
meter
on
the
cylinder
from
where
the
air
exits
and
verify
that
the
air
flow
measured
by
the
flow
meter
is
the
same
as
that
indicated
by
the
LED.
4.5.
Flow
/
insufficient
battery
alarm
The
electric
ventilator
is
equipped
with
an
auditory
and
visual
alarm
(red
LED)
which
lights
up
once
the
minimum
flow
rate
falls
below
120
l/min.
If
the
minimum
flow
rate
is
not
achieved,
verify
the
battery
charge
or
any
obstruction
within
the
filters.
When
the
battery
is
nearly
out
of
charge,
an
intermittent
light
signal
with
a
sound
signal
will
activate.
4.6.
Removal
/
switching
OFF
Once
the
operation
is
terminated
return
to
the
non
‐
contaminated
area
after
having
effectively
carried
out
personal
decontamination,
remove
the
face
protector
and
switch
off
the
TURBINE
170
by
holding
down
the
ON/OFF
switch
for
a
few
seconds.
5.
CLEANING
AND
MAINTENANCE
5.1.
Cleaning
After
use,
the
TURBINE
170
should
be
cleaned
with
a
damp
cloth
and
then
dried.
The
breathing
tube
should
be
rinsed
with
water.
For
cleaning
the
face
protectors
(mask/helmet/hood)
refer
to
the
relative
instructions.
5.2.
Maintenance
The
only
possible
servicing
for
the
TURBINE
170
is
the
substitution
of
the
battery
pack
when
the
batteries
are
completely
exhausted.
The
breathing
tube
does
not
require
any
maintenance.
For
servicing
the
face
protectors
(mask/helmet/hood)
please
refer
to
the
related
instructions.
