after changing the anode, you suddenly experience a substantial amount of cross talk, the new
anode is not in the correct position. There are two possible solutions for this problem, as
described below.

If the anode was inserted in the wrong orientation, both anodes will be visible to the cathode
and will therefore both emit X-rays. If you did not observe the correct orientation of the anode
when removing the old anode, you will need to remove the source from the chamber to check
the orientation. You can then easily correct the problem.
Figure 14 shows the front of the source (without guard ring and aluminium window), with the
correct orientation of the anode.

If the distance between the anode and the cross-talk suppression rod is incorrect, it is possible
to generate X-rays from the other anode. In this case, you need to remove the source from the
chamber and check this distance. Figure 15 is a cutaway that shows the correct distance
between the top of the anode and the top of the copper cap (or underside of the protection
ring).
