4. Choose any available slot and select
OK

Messages about the move process will be displayed.
The tape will appear under the

object.
Moving the tape to the slot triggers deduplication.
We recommend that you modify your backup policy instead of forcing deduplication
to run.
System configuration
FalconStor VTL configuration is lost
This section explains how to restore data if your FalconStor VTL configuration is
lost, for example, from a power failure that corrupted your file system.
If you previously saved your configuration, you can restore the full configuration,
including virtual libraries, tapes, database, and mirror configuration.
If you have never saved your configuration, you can only restore the data on the
tapes. You cannot restore your full configuration.
The procedures below assume a functioning FalconStor VTL system. Depending
upon the condition that caused you to lose your configuration, you may need to
reinstall FalconStor VTL or even the operating before you can use these
procedures.
Previously
saved
configuration
You can restore a nTier VTL appliance configuration from a file that was created
using the
Save Configuration
option. This is for disaster recovery purposes and
should not be used in day-to-day operation of the server.
Restoring a configuration overwrites existing virtual device and client configurations
for the server. FalconStor VTL partition information will not be restored. This feature
should only be used if your configuration is lost or corrupted.
To restore the configuration:
1. Highlight your nTier VTL appliance and select
Tools
menu -->
Restore
Configuration
.
2. Click
OK
to confirm and then locate the saved configuration file.
The nTier VTL appliance will be restarted.
• Resources added after the configuration was saved will show up in the
Virtual Vault after the configuration is restored.
• Deleted resources will show up with a red dot icon in the Virtual tape library
with an "incomplete" status.
Configuration
never saved
If you have never saved your configuration, you can only restore the data on the
tapes. You cannot restore your full configuration.
