Absolute vs Incremental Encoders
Most units in the DET-2 class have Incremental
Encoders, which means they need the vertical
and horizontal angles reset when they are
turned on after power down or AUTO
SHUTOFF
Some competitive units may have Absolute
Encoder systems, that “remember” their last
angles and don’t require initialization
Although accuracy can degrade
over time
with
these systems
The DET-2 “solution” to this is to disable AUTO-
SHUTOFF (SEE the PARAMETER SETTING
section)
