Handset Sharing and Provisioning
Handset sharing is used in combination with provisioning. Users can be provisioned via the
<MAC/UUID>-users.xml file. Devices cannot be provisioned because the intention is that devices
will be automatically created when they are subscribed.
It is recommended to provision users without an IPEI and let the user/device binding be handled by
signing-in from the handsets.
Furthermore, it is recommended not to create the devices manually via the web based Admin-
istration Page, but let the system automatically create them when subscribed. For security reasons,
it is recommended to restrict device subscription with a system access code.
For more information about provisioning, see Provisioning Guide.
Handset Sharing Setup Examples
l
Any handset can be linked with any User at any given time
l
Handset sign-in and sign-out using PIN code
l

l
PIN code field is used during handset sign-in
Once the Handset Sharing License is loaded onto the Spectralink IP-DECT/Virtual IP-DECT
Server, any handset can now be linked with any User at any given time, as long as that User is not
linked with another handset. This happens during a process, where the User signs in with an arbit-
rary handset using the extension number of the User and an optional PIN code associated with the
User.
