IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• Read all instructions.
• Do not operate the flashlight if it has been damaged.
•
The OPTI-LUX 365 must be fully charged before first use
.
•
CAUTION
: Use
only
the battery charger packed with the flashlight.
Do not attempt to use the charger to recharge any other product.
• Use
only
the 127568 batteries (see Replacement Parts).
• The OPTI-LUX 365 is not approved for use in hazardous atmospheres.
Do not attempt to use it in areas requiring explosion-proof lighting.
• Never use this equipment in any manner not specified in these instructions because
your protection may be impaired.
CHARGING AND USE
The OPTI-LUX 365 flashlight comes equipped with a battery charger available in
several different voltages. See Replacement Parts.
•
Fully charge both batteries before first use
.
• Place the batteries in the battery charger cradle. The light on each battery charger will
show green when charged, and red when the battery is low. A full charge for two batteries
will take approximately four hours.
• Turn the knob on the bottom of the flashlight to open the battery compartment. Insert
one Li-on battery, positive end down, and close the compartment. The second charged
battery will serve as backup.
• The flashlight will operate for up to four hours on a fully charged battery.
• Press the switch to light and use the OPTI-LUX 365.
CARE AND USE OF LITHIUM-ION (Li-ion) BATTERIES
•
Do not allow Li-ion batteries to fully discharge frequently, since this will put a strain on the
batteries. They will work more efficiently on multiple partial
discharges through regular use (every 2-3 weeks), and frequent recharges.
•
The batteries may be left in the battery cradle after charging. The charger
automatically cuts the charge when the charge is full.
•
Remove the battery from the lamp and store it separately.
Before prolonged storage
(30 days or more), charge the battery for at least two hours.
Store partially charged
for best results.
•
Store in a fairly cool environment away from sunlight, heat and humidity. Store the battery
at temperatures between 5 °C and 20 °C (41 °F and 68 °F).
NOTE:
The battery self-discharges during storage. Higher temperatures (above 20 °C
or 68 °F) will reduce the battery storage life.
•
Lithium-Ion batteries are subject to disposal and recycling regulations that vary by country
and region. Always check and follow your applicable regulations before disposing of
any battery.
WARNING:
Be sure to use genuine OPTI-LUX 365 replacement parts.
Using another manufacturer's replacement parts could affect product performance and
will void the warranty.
MEASURING UV-A INTENSITY
To ensure that your OLX-365 flashlight is operating at the required UV-A intensity, it should
be checked periodically. The AccuMAX™ XRP-3000 radiometer/photometer kit uses a
dual-wavelength UV-A/VIS sensor detector to accurately measure ultraviolet irradiance or
visible light. The AccuMAX™ XR-1000 digital readout unit with the XS-365 UV-A sensor
or the Spectroline DM-365XA digital radiometer unit are also recommended for accurate
UV-A measurement. The meters are specially designed to measure UV irradiance from
320–400nm with a peak at 365nm.
High Visible Light Readings—
Current LEDs have extremely high UV-A intensities
and produce concentrated beams. This can lead to higher visible light readings due to
naturally fluorescing materials that may be present on, or part of, meter sensors.
The
optional
BF-365LX black light filter attenuates some of this UV-A intensity, which
serves to limit the effects of these naturally fluorescing materials. In addition, the
BF-365LX filter ensures that the flashlight’s output is in the UV range only.
The AccuMAX XRP-3000 radiometer/photometer or the XR-1000 digital readout unit
with the XS-555I illuminance sensor detector will accurately measure the visible light.
