Chapter 5: Installation
5.1 Mechanical Installation
The RAC is to be installed at a protected location. In most cases, it will
be placed inside a bridge console or bulkhead mounted in the vicinity of
the connected RAIs.
Attach the RAC to a level surface with four M6 screws (or nuts and
bolts). For the dimensions of the housing, refer to dimension drawing
5014-0112-01.
When not installed in a bridge console, the RAC is to be mounted
vertically (bulkhead mounting), with the cable inlets facing down.
Inside a bridge console, the RAC may be installed vertically, horizontally
or inclined.
5.2 Electrical Installation
Rudder Angle Calibrator
Wire up the system according to the connection diagrams and other
relevant documents provided.
DANGER
Life danger through electrical shock
Certain alarm devices may operate with hazardous voltages, switched
by the alarm relay output contacts.
NEVER connect live wires to the unit’s terminals, when wiring up the
Rudder Angle Calibrator.
ALWAYS make sure that any external device or power supply to be con-
nected to the alarm relay outputs is de-energized and safeguarded
against accidental switching-on.
CAUTION
Risk of damage of electrostatic-discharge-sensitive components
Components on the Rudder Angle Calibrator PCB are sensitive to static
discharge.
While wiring up the RAC, take the necessary precautions to prevent elec-
trostatic discharges.
