System Parameters
RS-422 Out 2
Configures the RS- 422 serial data output 2 (VDR output).
Baudrate
Selects the transmit baudrate.
Settings:
4800 Baud
Data is transmitted at 4800 Baud
(standard according to NMEA / IEC 61162-1).
9600 Baud
Data is transmitted at 9600 Baud
(non-standard).
38400 Baud*
Data is transmitted at 38400 Baud
(high-speed, not compliant to IEC 61162-2)
CAUTION
Risk of misusage
The RS-422 output 1 and RS-422 output 2 of the RAC is not
MED compliant in case 38400 baud are selected as interface setting.
Always make sure that another baud rate setting (4880 or 9600 baud)
must be selected as RS-422 output 1 and RS-422 output, when the RAC is
used on a ship under wheelmark certification
Update Rate
Selects the rate at which output sentences are transmitted.
Settings:
10 Hz
Sentences are transmitted at a rate of 10 Hz.
This option should be selected only if a rate of 1 Hz would
be too slow, e. g. when the serial rudder angle data is used
to feed a live display.
Note that $--ALR sentences are always transmitted at 1 Hz,
regardless of the update rate setting.
1 Hz
Sentences are transmitted at a rate of 1 Hz.
This rate should suffice in most cases and should be
selected unless a higher rate is absolutely required.
Messages
Selects the NMEA sentences to receive.
CAUTION
Risk of misusage
The ALR sentence as serial output of the RAC is not MED complaint and
therefore NOT allowed as system setting for a ship under wheelmark
certification.
Always make sure that the ALR sentence setting is INACTIVATED when
the RAC is used on a ship under wheelmark certification.
