In- and Output Calibration
6-19
14. At least three output calibration points must be set now before the
calibration page can be quit and the calibration settings are written
to the RAC.
15. Enter the RAI’s full scale port angle in the output calibration rudder
angle control. In most cases, this will be the nominal hardover port
angle, e. g. -45 or -70 degrees.
You may edit the displayed angle directly or use the dial and spin
controls to set it to the required value.
Port angles must be entered as negative numbers, i. e. prefixed with
a minus sign.
16. At the RAIs to calibrate, read the actual rudder angle indication.
Adjust the output sliders in SUSI to bring the RAI’s indication to the
exact full scale port value:
The numbers shown in the analogue output spin boxes are the 12-bit
digital values fed to the D/A converters, to be converted into the ana-
logue output voltages.
Hereby, the number 0 represents the maximum possible positive
output voltage (+15 V nominal) and 4095 represents the maximum
possible negative output voltage (-15 V nominal).
In case no RAIs are connected to the RAC at this point in time, leave
all output settings at the default value of 2048.
17. Click
to set a new calibration point. The rudder angle
and the corresponding set of output values are now saved to runt-
ime memory.
The calibration point index is incremented automatically. Upon sav-
ing a calibration point, all points are re-indexed. The point for the
largest port angle is assigned index “1”, while the point for the larg-
est starboard angle is assigned the index matching the total number
of existing points.
18. Enter 0.0 in the output calibration rudder angle control.
19. At the RAIs to calibrate, read the actual rudder angle indication.
Adjust the output sliders in SUSI to bring each RAI’s indication to
rudder midships exactly:
Note
If no RAIs are connected to the RAC at this point in time, zero output val-
ues may be entered as a temporary measure, to be able to finish the ini-
tial calibration and transfer the calibration settings to the RAC.
The RAC may not be taken into regular operation before all used outputs
have been calibrated with the respective RAIs being installed at their
proper locations.
