Preface
This manual forms the basis for operation of the mineral fibre cutter. It deserves your full attention.
The mineral fibre cutter is referred to as the
“device”.
The device is a quality product developed and assembled in Switzerland. It was manufactured using modern production methods and constantly checked
during manufacture and as an end product through the internal quality assurance system. The methods and procedures used for the manufacture and
monitoring are state of the art. Operation of the device is on the purchaser/user’s own responsibility and at the purchaser/user’s own risk.
Before starting any work on or with the device, this manual must be carefully read to the end. If there are any ambiguities, please contact us immediately.
Do not put the device into operation if there are still ambiguities. By putting the device into operation, you confirm that you have read and understood the
manual and have thereby assumed responsibility for operation.
Range of application:
The device is designed for cutting mineral fibre, glass fibre, Resol rigid foam and hybrid insulation boards. It is also possible to use it on XPS perimeter
rigid foam boards. For EPS polystyrene insulation boards (Styrofoam), we recommend Spewe glow-wire cutters.
Device operation
Operation of the device is carried out by trained persons who are familiar with the device. The use of appropriate protective equipment is recommended
(closed work clothing, respirator, goggles and protective gloves). See also Safety instructions.
Maintenance and cleaning:
Before each operation, all nuts and bolts must be checked and, if necessary, tightened. Similarly, the sharpness of the cutting blades or saws must be
checked before each operation. Blunt tools can cause injury. If you are not sure of the state of sharpness of the cutting tools, please replace them. Clean
using only dry media and do not use any solvents.
If the device is out of operation for an extended period, clean and care for it in a protected location. Attach this manual to the device so that it is visible.
Safety instructions
Before processing the insulation boards, please observe the safety instructions of the insulation manufacturer.
The use of protective equipment is recommended (e.g. closed work clothing, respirator, goggles and protective
gloves).
Cutting tools such as blades, knives, saws, sabre saws, etc. are sharp and must be treated carefully. When not in use, do not leave the
cutting tools open or unattended.
If electrically operated cutting tools are used, the device must be disconnected from the mains at each manipulation
(maintenance or cleaning).
Protect the device against moisture. It is prohibited to operate electric cutting tools outdoors in the rain. A
defective connection cable (or plug) must be replaced immediately.
Repairs to the electrical equipment may only be carried out by an expert!
The foregoing safety instructions supplement the safety instructions applicable to the workplace.
Putting into operation
The device may only be used if it is assembled or set up so that it can be operated safely and so that all parts are secured and cannot become detached
from the device. When assembling the device on scaffolding, it must be additionally secured against falling – in any position. After successful installation
of the device at the place of use, check the stability and security against a change of location and have these confirmed by the supervisor. If an installed
device is left unattended, secure it against external influences. The operator of the device is responsible for ensuring that sources of danger and trip
hazards are eliminated around the device (z.B. long tension belts, unsecured power cable, packaging, etc.).
Personnel qualifications
The device may only be assembled, put into operation, operated, used, serviced and cleaned by authorised, qualified personnel.
Warranty, guarantee, liability
If the device is operated and serviced appropriately, we guarantee its proper functioning. The warranty will expire 12 months from the date of
purchase/date of invoice of commercial end customers. It is limited to the supply of spare parts, or the repair of defective parts at the manufacturing plant
or at Spewe authorised service stations. Any further claims or replacements of consumable and wear parts (e.g. cutting tools) are excluded.
Any change in the intended use will result in the loss of warranty.
The device must be deployed and used under the conditions specified in this manual. For damages arising from non-observance or inappropriate
operation, we disclaim any responsibility or warranty.
Spare parts, consumables
All commercially available device parts and consumables can be obtained through our customer service or our distribution partners.
Disposal
The device must be cleaned before disposal. The metal and wooden parts can be sent to the designated collection sites; electrical and electronic parts
are considered e-waste and belong to special waste.
