Step 4 :
Remove the battery cover from the gas
control. Remove the old batteries and using the
diagram on the inside of the cover fit new high
quality alkaline batteries. Ensure the batteries are
positioned correctly and the gas control is switched
on (switch in I postion)
Step 5 :
Reverse the steps above ensuring the power is on, the heat shield is
fitted and the vanity cover is secure. Test that the fire opertates, switch on and
as soon as the main burner lights switch it off.
Step 6 :
Fit the glass in the reverse order that was used to remove it.
Note:
If you are not intending to use the fire for a long period (i.e. over
summer time months), the battery life can be extended even more by sliding
the white isolator switch to the left (away from the On position, symbol 0 ).
Don’t forget to switch it back on in the winter!
Cleaning Instructions
Due to this being a glass fronted fire the cleaning is best left to the gas safe engineer when he
is called to do his annual service. The cleaning will involve removing the glass and cleaning any
deposits from the burner and inside the burner tray. On the BS7977 version the debris
collection plate at the back needs removal and any debris in the chimney cavity hoovering out
before the plate is refitted.
Cleaning the Glass.
Remove the glass as shown on page 9. Using glass cleaner and a clean cloth clean the glass on
both sides. If the seal is damaged or needs replacement this should be ordered from the
manufacturer before refitting the glass.
Warning: Fire Guards & Hearths
As with all glass fronted gas fires the glass will get very hot when the fire is
operating therefore it is important that the glass is never touched when the fire is
operating or until it has had a period to cool down.
If using the fire in a property when children or elderly people are present a fire guard
must be fitted.
This appliance is not fitted with an integral guard. In normal use consideration may
be given to the use of a fireguard conforming to BS6539 or BS6778, so that the
approach to the appliance is limited such that access to the flame is minimised
It is recommended that a fireguard conforming to BS6539 or BS6778 is used for the protection
of young children, the elderly and infirm.
The installer is to advise the user not to stand too close to the appliance for prolonged periods
of time and warn that loose clothing is particularly at risk of burning due to the presence of an
