4.1
Function
Application range
The optical fibre splice cassette (FO splice cassette) Zone 1 type 8186 enables correct,
time effective connection of fibre optics in hazardous areas with "op pr" type of protection
(protected optical radiation in accordance with IEC/EN 60079-28).
For use in areas with gas or dust explosion hazard the FO splice cassette must be
installed in a suitable protective enclosure.
Mode of operation
Overall, the FO splice cassette provides space for 2 splice protector holders.
When using 1 splice protector holder (accessories set 203682), a max. of 6 fibre optics
can be installed or max. 12 fibre optics with 2 splice protector holders.
Multiple FO splice cassettes can also be installed on top of one another in a stack.
In this case, at least the upper FO splice cassette must be closed using the cover.
