8.3.4 EOL Resistor (terminator)
An EOL resistor is required at both ends of the trunk. Spurs are operated without an
EOL resistor.
A trunk EOL resistor is permanently installed in every field device coupler.
To activate the trunk EOL resistor, the jumper is removed from the park position on the
field device coupler and connected to the terminals on the "TERM" terminal block.
If the field device coupler is located at the end of the trunk, i.e. the terminals on the
"TRUNK OUT" terminal block are not being used, the EOL resistor must be activated by
inserting the jumper at the "TRUNK" terminal block.
If the field device coupler is not located at the end of the trunk, i.e. the terminals on the
"TRUNK OUT" terminal block are being used, the terminals at the "TRUNK" terminal
block must not be bridged. The EOL resistor remains in the park position.
11191E00
Field device coupler as the last device on
the trunk. The jumper for activating the
EOL resistor is installed. (2)
11192E00
Field device coupler with trunk looped
through. The jumper for acivating the
EOL resistor is in the park position.
