6.4 ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
CAUTION
Reverse polarity battery connections will damage the radio!
Connect the power cord and antenna to the radio. Antenna and Power Sup-
ply connections are as follows:
1. Mount the antenna at least 3 feet (1 m) away from the radio. At the rear
of the radio, connect the antenna cable. The antenna cable must have a
PL259 connector attached. RG-8/U coaxial cable must be used if the an-
tenna is 25 feet (7.6 m) or more from the radio. RG58 cable can be used
for distances less than 25 feet (7.6 m).
2. Connect the red power wire to a 11.0 V to 16.5 V DC power source (Nor-
mal: 13.8 VDC). Connect the black power wire to a negative ground.
3. If an optional remote extension speaker is to be used, refer to section “
6.5
ACCESSORY CABLE
” for connections.
4. It is advisable to have a Certified Marine Technician check the power out-
put and the standing wave ratio of the antenna after installation.
Fuse Replacement

To take out the Fuse from the Fuse Holder,
hold both ends of the Fuse Holder and pull the
Fuse Holder apart without bending the Fuse
Holder. When you replace the Fuse, please
confirm that the Fuse is tightly fixed on the
metal contact located inside the Fuse Holder.
If the metal contact holding the fuse is loose,
the Fuse holder may heat up.
