Servicing and care (B28-B30)
Saw chain
Saw chain and guide bar servicing
Adjust the tension of the saw chain (2) from time
to time when necessary.
Turn the guide bar (1) after lengthy usage and
when you change the saw chain (2). This will compensate
the wear on the groove on the cutting side of the bar.
Sharpen the saw chain
The saw chain (2) should be serviced by a trained
specialist.
Air filter
After a lengthy period of use, you should clean
the air filter. Dust and pollen will block the pores
of the air filter.
- Remove the air filter cover (16) and wash
the air filter in mild soap suds. Important:
Do not use petrol or solvents.
- Dry the filter before you use it again.
A damaged air filter must be replaced straight
away so as not to reduce the service life of the
engine.
Use a damp cloth to clean the plastic parts. Do
not use cleaning products, solvents or sharp
objects.
Clear dust accumulations from the ventilation
openings and moving parts at regular intervals
using a soft brush.
After a lengthy period of use, remove the guide
bar and chain and clean them with a brush.
Spark plug adjustment
At least once a year or if the engine does not start
easily, check the electrode gap on the spark plug.
The correct gap between the lug and the contact
is 0.25“/0.63 mm.
direction first. Ensure that the chainsaw is
running immediately before it comes into contact
with the wood. Saw a notch in the tree (A) in the
felling direction. This felling notch will guide the
tree and determine the direction in which it falls. Check
the felling direction again. In the event that you have to
correct the felling direction, recut the notch to extend it
to the full width of the trunk.
Shout “Timber”.
Now saw the felling cut (B) on the side of the tree
opposite the notch. Start this above the bottom
of the notch.
Place wedges in the felling cut promptly.
Leave a rupture strip (C). This acts as a hinge. If
you saw through the rupture strip, the tree will
fall out of control.
Never saw down trees, fell them using wedges.
Stand back when a tree falls. Check the crown
area. Wait until the crown stops shaking.
Never fell trees if you can no longer see all the
details in the felling area (because of rain, snow,
fog or twilight).
Never fell trees if you cannot control the felling
direction because of high winds.
Only fell trees if you have absolutely safe footing.
Lying trees or branches may be under tension.
Make a cut to relieve this tension first, and
then the actual cut.
Caution:
After operated the chain saw at full load for
a long time, should let the engine run at no load for a
while, until the cooling air takes away most of the heat.
In this way, it will avoid much more heat collected and
avoid causing the drive mechanism overheat.
After sawing work. Need to slacken the saw chain if it
is tensioned at working temperature. Because the saw
chain will be shrunk during cooling and it will damage
the crankshaft and the bearing if it is not slackened.
