When the instrument
is “on,” you may hear
a whistling noise
known as feedback
when adjusting the
volume control or
when using the
telephone.
Feedback is caused by
amplified sounds
escaping from the ear,
then reflecting off your
hand into the
instrument’s microphone. It is more likely to occur
during insertion, removal and volume adjustment. It
should cease when you move your hand.
If feedback persists after the instrument has been
inserted correctly and the volume is set to a
comfortable level, contact your hearing professional.
