◊ SANDING BELT TRACKING
The sanding
belt tracking
is the side movement of the
sanding belt while oscillating. The travel should be
equal on both ways.
The tracking is controlled by a photocell (
U
) and a
mirror (
V
). When the sanding belt travels sideways, it
will cut the beam of the photocell, which will revert the
travel. If the belt travels too far on one side, a limit
switch (one on each side) will be actuated and will stop
the sander.
Air jets (
W
) are in position to keep the photocell and the
mirror clean so they can see the sanding belt. However,
if the air jets are not in correct position, they will not
clean the photocell or the mirror and the belt will track
toward the limit switch without changing direction. This
may cause damages if limit switches were not properly
adjusted as sander would not stop.
In order for the oscillation system to perform
adequately, the air jets must be in correct position, the
belt tracking and the oscillation must be adjusted
properly and the limit switches must be in correct
position on each side of the belt to act as a safety stop.
The belt travelling both directions can be adjusted by
controlling the oscillation speed:
◊ SANDING BELT OSCILLATION SPEED
The sanding
belt oscillation speed
is controlled by
the air cylinder located on the right hand side and is
accessible by opening the right access door.
The speed is adjusted by mean of the speed controllers
on the air cylinder. Loosen the fixing nut on the left (
S
)
or on the right (
T
) speed control knob and turn the
appropriate knob clockwise to decrease the speed or
counter-clockwise to increase the speed of the desired
side. It should take about the same time (2-3 sec.) to
the belt to travel in each direction while oscillating. Test
the oscillation speed and readjust if necessary.
The sensor (electronic eye
U
) and the mirror (
V
)
shouldbe checked frequently and kept clean. Air jets
(
W
) are installed to blow dust away but they could be
knocked out of position accidently or by a loose sanding
belt.
If the sensor or the mirror get dirty, the sensor will stop
getting the signal to actuate and change direction. The
sanding belt will track toward the sensor and into the
limit switch and damages might occur.
◊ CONVEYOR BELT
The belt tracking and tension are adjusted at the
factory. However, should they require correction the
adjustment bolts are located on each side of the
conveyor front roller.
Disconnect the machine from power. Turn the bolts to
increase/decrease the tension or correct the belt
tracking.
